Before you begin

Identify the MXF codec before choosing a workflow.

Check the codec, audio layout, metadata, and camera folder structure, then confirm what the destination can import directly.

Choose the right MOV workflow on Mac

MXF is a professional container whose codec and metadata support varies between players and editors. Use a standard MOV profile for QuickTime playback, or choose ProRes when the files are intended for iMovie or Final Cut Pro.

Match the source resolution and frame rate. Preserve the original MXF files until picture, audio, timecode, and metadata have been checked in the destination application.
