Check the codecs inside the source container and the requirements of the target player, editor, or device before converting.
Current VEGAS Pro releases support many 4K formats directly, but highly compressed camera media and mixed codecs can still increase decode load or cause inconsistent preview performance. Convert only when the source cannot be edited reliably or a uniform intermediate is required.
Retain the source resolution and frame rate for a 4K project, then test a representative output clip for color, motion, picture, and audio before converting the complete batch.

Three-step workflow

Add the source
Open LosslessConverter and select Add Files. Add the 4K source files and select the files required for this workflow.
Create editing-ready media
Open Output Format, select the Editing group, and choose ProRes. Select Same as source to retain the source dimensions; choose HD 1080P or HD 720P only when the project deliberately uses that resolution.
Create the current output
Choose an output folder and select Start All. When processing finishes, import the ProRes MOV files into VEGAS Pro and verify resolution, frame rate, color, picture, and audio before editing.
