Prepare 4K media for Adobe Premiere Pro

Current Premiere Pro releases can edit many 4K camera formats directly, but long-GOP media, uncommon audio layouts, and mixed camera codecs can still make decoding and timeline playback inconsistent. Convert only when the original clips do not import cleanly or when the project benefits from uniform editing media.

For a 4K project, use a ProRes editing profile and retain the source resolution and frame rate. Test a representative clip for color, picture, audio, and timecode before converting a complete shoot.

Add the source

Load the 4K source files

Open LosslessConverter and select Add Files. Add the 4K source files and select the files required for this workflow.

Create editing-ready media

Choose Editing > ProRes

Open Output Format, select the Editing group, and choose ProRes. Select Same as source to retain the source dimensions; choose HD 1080P or HD 720P only when the project deliberately uses that resolution.

Create the current output

Select Start All, then verify in Adobe Premiere Pro

Choose an output folder and select Start All. When processing finishes, import the ProRes MOV files into Adobe Premiere Pro and verify resolution, frame rate, color, picture, and audio.
