Resolve MXF import errors in Adobe Premiere Pro

Current Premiere Pro releases support many MXF variants, but MXF is only a container. Import can still fail when the internal codec, audio layout, metadata, or camera folder structure is unsupported or incomplete.

Try the original camera structure first. If Premiere Pro still reports an importer error, create an MPEG-2 editing copy that matches the sequence resolution and frame rate, then test picture, audio, timecode, and sync before processing a batch.

Add the source

Load the MXF clips that Premiere Pro cannot import

Open LosslessConverter and select Add Files. Add the MXF clips that Premiere Pro cannot import and select the files required for this workflow.

Match the editing application

Choose Editing > Premiere/VEGAS > MPEG-2

Open Output Format, select the Editing group, choose Premiere/VEGAS, and select MPEG-2. Match the resolution and frame rate to the editing sequence.

Create the current output

Select Start All, then verify in Adobe Premiere Pro

Choose an output folder and select Start All. When processing finishes, import the MPEG-2 files into Adobe Premiere Pro and verify picture, frame rate, and audio in the sequence.
