Prepare 4K media for Final Cut Pro

Current Final Cut Pro releases can edit many 4K camera formats directly. ProRes remains useful when the source codec is unsupported, decoding is too demanding, or a project needs uniform editing media.

Choose ProRes, retain the source resolution and frame rate, and test a representative clip for color, motion, picture, and audio before converting the complete shoot.

Add the source

Load the 4K source files

Open LosslessConverter and select Add Files. Add the 4K source files and select the files required for this workflow.

Create editing-ready media

Choose Editing > ProRes

Open Output Format, select the Editing group, and choose ProRes. Select Same as source to retain the source dimensions; choose HD 1080P or HD 720P only when the project deliberately uses that resolution.

Create the current output

Select Start All, then verify in Final Cut Pro

Choose an output folder and select Start All. When processing finishes, import the ProRes MOV files into Final Cut Pro and verify resolution, frame rate, color, picture, and audio before editing.
