Before you begin
Check the codecs inside the source container and the requirements of the target player, editor, or device before converting.
Some MPG files use MPEG-1, MPEG-2, or audio combinations that iMovie does not import consistently. Converting them to ProRes MOV creates predictable editing media for a current iMovie library.
Match the source resolution, frame rate, and aspect ratio, then verify audio sync in iMovie before beginning the edit. Test files from each camera or recorder separately when a batch contains mixed MPEG variants.

Add the source
Open LosslessConverter and select Add Files. Add the MPG or MPEG files and select the files required for this workflow.
Create editing-ready media
Open Output Format, select the Editing group, and choose ProRes. Select Same as source to retain the source dimensions; choose HD 1080P or HD 720P only when the project deliberately uses that resolution.
Create the current output
Choose an output folder and select Start All. When processing finishes, import the ProRes MOV files into iMovie and verify picture, aspect ratio, and audio.
