Problem and solution

Identify the MXF codec before choosing a workflow.

Check the codec, audio layout, metadata, and camera folder structure, then confirm what the destination can import directly.

Choose a current DNxHD route for After Effects

After Effects supports selected MXF variants and can work with DNxHD or DNxHR in supported containers. Test the original MXF first because compatibility depends on the MXF operational pattern, codec, and audio layout.

If the MXF cannot be imported, create a DNxHD MOV editing copy instead of treating MPEG-2 as the universal Adobe format. Match the source frame rate and dimensions, then verify picture, alpha requirements, audio, and sync.
