How to convert DVD to MP4, M4V, and MOV on Mac

Before you begin

Confirm the DVD title and intended output.

Check the disc structure, aspect ratio, audio, subtitles, and destination requirements before creating a copy.

Choose a DVD output for the Apple workflow

MP4, M4V, and MOV are containers whose compatibility depends on the video, audio, subtitle, and metadata formats inside them. Use H.264 MP4 for broad playback or choose MOV and an editing codec when a documented Apple production workflow requires it.

Select the correct authorized title, audio, and subtitles. Preserve aspect ratio, frame rate, and interlacing unless the destination requires a deliberate change, then verify one output before processing the complete disc.

Add the source

Load the DVD disc

Open LosslessConverter and select Add Disc. Add the DVD disc, then select the required title, audio, and subtitle tracks.

Create a broadly compatible file

Choose Video > MP4

Open Output Format, select the Video group, and choose MP4. Start with Same as source, then change resolution only when the destination requires it.

Create the current output

Select Start All, then verify in general playback or sharing

Choose an output folder and select Start All. When processing finishes, open the MP4 file in the destination player and verify the selected title, aspect ratio, audio, subtitles, and sync.
