Problem and solution

Check the camera format before choosing a workflow.

Keep the original card structure when available, then confirm the codec, frame rate, scan type, and editor support before converting.

Prepare Panasonic P2 media for Final Cut Pro

P2 is a camera-card structure that can contain supported DVCPRO, AVC-Intra, and other media. Current Final Cut Pro releases can import supported P2 formats, so start with the complete card rather than assuming the MXF files are incompatible.

Create ProRes only when the recorded codec remains unsupported or a uniform intermediate is required. Match frame rate, resolution, and scan type and verify picture, audio channels, timecode, and spanned clips.
