Before you begin
Keep the original camera folder when available, then confirm the recording mode, frame rate, and destination support before converting.
After Effects can import many MTS and M2TS files directly, but long-GOP camera media can be demanding to decode and may not be the best working format for repeated effects processing. Test the original clip before deciding to convert it.
When an editing copy is needed, use an intermediate profile, retain the source resolution and frame rate, and verify picture, motion, audio, and sync in the composition before processing the remaining clips.

Three-step workflow

Add the source
Open LosslessConverter and select Add Files. Add the MTS or AVCHD clips and select the files required for this workflow.
Create editing-ready media
Open Output Format, select the Editing group, and choose ProRes. Select Same as source to retain the source dimensions; choose HD 1080P or HD 720P only when the project deliberately uses that resolution.
Create the current output
Choose an output folder and select Start All. When processing finishes, import the ProRes MOV files into After Effects and verify picture, frame rate, and audio before compositing.
