Problem and solution

Check the camera format before choosing a workflow.

Keep the original card structure when available, then confirm the codec, frame rate, scan type, and editor support before converting.

Prepare Canon 5D Mark II media for Final Cut Pro

Canon 5D Mark II MOV files contain H.264 camera media that current Final Cut Pro releases may import directly. Test the source first; create ProRes only when decoding performance, an unsupported stream, or a uniform editing workflow makes an intermediate useful.

Match the source resolution and frame rate and do not promise lossless results from a video transcode. Verify picture, color, motion, audio, and sync before processing the complete shoot.
