Problem and solution

Check the AVCHD source before choosing a workflow.

Keep the original camera folder when available, then confirm the recording mode, frame rate, and destination support before converting.

Import Handycam media into a Windows editor

Current Windows editors can import many Sony Handycam AVCHD recordings directly. Start with the complete camera folder because playlist, audio, and spanned-clip metadata may be stored outside individual MTS files.

If the editor cannot decode the recording mode, create an MP4 or application-specific editing copy that preserves the source aspect ratio and frame rate, then verify picture, audio, clip duration, and sync before processing a batch.

Solution direction

Apply the solution in the workflow below.

Try the complete Handycam AVCHD structure first, then create a compatible copy when a current Windows editor requires it.

Three-step workflow

Create and verify one test output before processing the full batch.

01

Add the source

Load the Sony Handycam AVCHD media

First try the editor's camera-import workflow with the complete original AVCHD folder. If the recording mode or spanned clips remain unsupported, open LosslessConverter, select Add Files, and add the required Handycam clips while keeping the source folder intact.

02

Create an editing fallback

Choose an output documented by the Windows editor

Open Output Format and select an editing profile supported by the installed Windows editor. Match the source resolution, frame rate, scan type, and audio layout; preserve the original camera folders and metadata until the project is verified.

03

Create the current output

Select Start All, then verify in a current Windows video editor

Choose an output folder and select Start All. When processing finishes, import the editing copies into the Windows editor and verify picture, frame rate, scan type, clip duration, audio, and sync.

Try it with your own media

Process one file, verify the result, then run the full batch.
