Problem and solution

Check the camera format before choosing a workflow.

Keep the original card structure when available, then confirm the codec, frame rate, scan type, and editor support before converting.

Prepare Sony EX3 media for Windows editors

Current Windows editors can link or import many Sony PMW-EX3 XDCAM EX recordings directly. Start with the complete card structure so the editor can use its clip metadata and related media files.

If the editor cannot use the source reliably, create a supported editing copy that matches the source resolution and frame rate, then verify picture, audio, timecode, clip duration, and sync.

Solution direction

Apply the solution in the workflow below.

Try native XDCAM EX import first, then create a compatible editing copy when a current Windows editor requires it.

Three-step workflow

Create and verify one test output before processing the full batch.

01

Add the source

Load the Sony PMW-EX3 XDCAM media

First try importing the complete original XDCAM EX card structure in the current Windows editor. If the editor cannot link or decode the recording, open LosslessConverter, select Add Files, and add the required Sony PMW-EX3 MXF clips for an editing fallback.

02

Create an editing fallback

Choose an output documented by the Windows editor

Open Output Format and select an editing profile supported by the installed Windows editor. Match the source resolution, frame rate, scan type, and audio layout; preserve the original camera folders and metadata until the project is verified.

03

Create the current output

Select Start All, then verify in a current Windows video editor

Try it with your own media
