Prepare Sony PMW-EX1 media for Final Cut Pro

XDCAM EX support depends on the container, camera structure, and installed Final Cut Pro version. Try the original BPAV structure or current supported import component first instead of assuming that every MXF clip requires transcoding.

Rewrap only when the video and audio streams already meet the destination requirements; otherwise create ProRes media. Verify resolution, frame rate, picture, audio, timecode, and spanned clips before processing the card.

Add the source

Load the Sony PMW-EX1 MXF clips

Open LosslessConverter and select Add Files. Add the Sony PMW-EX1 MXF clips and select the files required for this workflow.

Create editing-ready media

Choose Editing > ProRes

Open Output Format, select the Editing group, and choose ProRes. Select Same as source to retain the source dimensions; choose HD 1080P or HD 720P only when the project deliberately uses that resolution.

Create the current output

Select Start All, then verify in Final Cut Pro

Choose an output folder and select Start All. When processing finishes, import the ProRes MOV files into Final Cut Pro and verify picture, frame rate, timecode, and audio.
