Prepare Sony NEX-F3 1080i footage for a progressive timeline

Sony NEX-F3 1080i AVCHD records alternating fields. Progressive projects can show combing on movement when the footage is interpreted without deinterlacing.

Create a progressive ProRes MOV copy for iMovie or Final Cut Pro. Match the source frame cadence and inspect motion, diagonal edges, and fine detail before editing the full set.

Load the interlaced source

Load the Sony NEX-F3 1080i clips

Open LosslessConverter and select Add Files. Add representative 1080i MTS clips and confirm the source frame rate and field structure.

Create editing media

Choose Editing > ProRes

Open Output Format, select Editing, and choose ProRes. Keep 1920 x 1080 and match the source cadence.

Create progressive video

Open Edit and enable Deinterlacing

Open Edit, enable Deinterlacing, and apply it only when the project and delivery are progressive. Leave it disabled for an interlaced workflow.

Check motion and edges

Select Start All, then inspect the progressive result

Choose an output folder and select Start All. Inspect motion, diagonal edges, fine detail, picture, and audio sync before processing the complete shoot.
