Before you begin
Connect the right drive and plan your output
A physical DVD requires a DVD-compatible optical drive. A Blu-ray disc requires a Blu-ray drive; a DVD-only drive cannot read it. VIDEO_TS/BDMV folders and ISO images can be loaded directly without an optical drive.
- Make sure the destination has enough free space. A full folder or ISO backup can be close to the size of the source disc.
- Close other media players or disc-burning tools so they do not keep the drive busy.
- For faster conversion, keep the current NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel graphics driver installed.
Step 1
Load a DVD, Blu-ray, folder, or ISO image
- Insert the DVD or Blu-ray and open LosslessConverter.
- Choose DVD/Blu-ray Ripper, then select Load Disc. To use a copied source instead, open the load menu and choose Load DVD Folder, Load Blu-ray Folder, or Load ISO.
- Wait while the app reads the source and identifies titles, chapters, audio tracks, and subtitles.
- Choose Main Title for the detected feature or open the full title list to select episodes, extras, or individual chapters.
LosslessConverter supports DVD-Video and Blu-ray sources, including VIDEO_TS and BDMV folders. Region codes and common APS, CSS, ARccOS, CPRM, AACS, BD+, AACS Bus Encryption, and Cinavia protections are supported where compatible.
Step 2
Choose an output mode
Open the output selector and choose the result that matches what you plan to do next.

For portable output, choose a format or device preset. You can then adjust the encoder, resolution, aspect ratio, frame rate, bitrate, audio channels, sample rate, and other profile settings.
Optional controls
Select tracks, subtitles, chapters, and edits
- Audio and subtitles: keep every original track or select only the languages you need. You can also add an external audio or subtitle file.
- Titles and chapters: process the full movie, selected episodes, extras, or only specific chapters.
- Quick editing: trim, crop, rotate, merge, adjust image effects, apply a filter, or add a watermark before output.
- 3D output: choose a compatible 2D-to-3D profile when the target playback setup supports it.
Step 3
Choose a destination and start ripping
- Select the output folder and confirm that it has enough free space.
- Review the selected titles, output profile, audio tracks, and subtitles.
- Select Rip All to start. You can follow the progress of each selected title in the task list.
- When processing finishes, open the destination and test the result in your preferred player before storing or deleting another backup.
Compatible Intel Quick Sync, NVIDIA NVENC/CUDA, and AMD acceleration can shorten supported jobs by up to 6x. Actual speed depends on the drive, disc condition, CPU/GPU, output codec, and editing settings.

If loading fails
Check the disc, drive, and connection
- Confirm that the drive supports the media type and that an external drive has stable USB and power connections.
- Clean the disc and check for deep scratches, cracks, or manufacturing damage.
- Eject and reinsert the disc, then restart LosslessConverter and use the load command again.
- Test a second disc to separate a source problem from a drive problem.
- If the issue continues, send support the disc title and region, drive model, operating system, and exact error message.
